The Sûreté du Québec Says Ten Searches in Saguenay Produced About 16,000 Grams of Cocaine, More Than $335,000 in Canadian Currency and a Handgun, and Alleges the Cocaine Distribution Network It Targeted Is Linked to the North Savage Gang (October 30, 2026)
The Sûreté du Québec says ten searches carried out in Saguenay — five residences and five vehicles — produced a little more than $335,000 in Canadian currency, about 16,000 grams of cocaine, a handgun, about a hundred methamphetamine tablets and about 140 grams of dried cannabis. The force says the operation targeted a cocaine distribution network operating in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region and alleges the investigation shows the network is linked to the North Savage Gang and obtains its supply in the Laval sector. The investigation began in March 2026, the force says. Two people were arrested and released pending the continuation of proceedings, and the force says they could face charges of cocaine trafficking and receiving.
Legal status: No charges have been announced. The Sûreté du Québec says the two people arrested were released pending the continuation of proceedings and could face charges it words as “trafic de cocaïne et recel” — cocaine trafficking and receiving stolen property. The North Savage Gang link is the force’s allegation and has not been tested in court.
What the Sûreté du Québec Says Was Seized
The force puts the cash at a little more than $335,000 in Canadian currency and the cocaine at about 16,000 grams. It also lists two vehicles seized as offence-related property, seven cellphones, one handgun, about a hundred methamphetamine tablets and about 140 grams of dried cannabis.
The Alleged North Savage Gang Link
The Sûreté du Québec says the investigation behind the operation shows the network is linked to the North Savage Gang, and that the network obtains its supply in the Laval sector. The link is the police force’s allegation, made in its summary of the operation, which is titled as targeting a cocaine distribution network “lié au North Savage Gang.”
Who Carried Out the Operation
The force credits the Escouade régionale mixte (ERM) Saguenay, with about forty officers taking part, and says members of the groupe d’intervention en violence urbaine of the Service de police de la Ville de Saguenay collaborated. It describes ERMs as partnerships between police services that pool resources to fight organized crime in every region of Quebec.
