The Manitoba RCMP say a 33-year-old Swan River man faces charges of assault and break and enter with intent after officers responded at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 to a report of an attempted home invasion at a Swan River residence. Police say a male suspect knocked on the door, that the 57-year-old resident, who knows the suspect, briefly opened a window and spoke to him, and that the suspect returned when the resident opened the door a short time later. A physical altercation followed, with the suspect forcing his way into the residence and then being forced out, the RCMP says. Police say he then threw a rock at the house and punched a window before walking away. Officers located a man matching the suspect’s description a short distance from the home, and the release says he refused to comply with police orders and that officers took him to the ground and arrested him.
