The October 7 Arrest

According to the force, Youngman was released on Monday, October 5, 2026, with court-ordered conditions involving a 24-hour curfew and a weapons prohibition, and the Calgary Police Service Offender Management Team began monitoring him at that time. On Wednesday, October 7, members of the team observed him downtown and confirmed he was in breach of his court-ordered release conditions. Officers from the Community Engagement Response Team (CERT) were nearby and took him into custody, the force says. At the time of his arrest, a firearm, bear spray, approximately nine grams of methamphetamine and approximately eight grams of fentanyl were seized.

The release does not describe the firearm seized on October 7 beyond calling it a firearm, giving no make, calibre or type for it.

The Charges

The counts are reproduced below in the force’s own wording. Eleven is a tally of the listed charges; the release does not state a total. The possession for the purpose of trafficking count is listed without a named substance.

  • Possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

The August Liquor Store File

The force says Youngman was charged in August 2026 in relation to a robbery at a liquor store, and that a loaded .22-calibre lever action rifle was seized at that arrest. That rifle is a separate seizure from the one described above, and the release does not say what has become of the August charge.

Staff Sgt. Kerry Smith of the Calgary Police Service Offender Management Unit is quoted in the release: “We have found targeting repeat offenders is very efficient in promoting public safety, however it requires substantial resources and co-ordination not only from various areas within the Service, but with our external partners as well.”
