WASHINGTON — Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder for Canada now featured on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list, is facing new charges for allegedly orchestrating the murder of a federal witness to sabotage his own extradition to the United States, officials announced Wednesday.

The charges are part of a federal indictment unsealed in California that outlines a brutal plot to silence a witness against Wedding. According to authorities, Wedding and his co-conspirators used a Canadian website called “the Dirty News” to post a photograph of the witness to facilitate his identification and killing. The witness was subsequently followed to a restaurant in Medellín, Colombia, in January and shot in the head.

The murder was allegedly intended to protect Wedding’s sprawling criminal enterprise. He was previously charged in 2024 with running a multinational drug ring that moves approximately 60 tons of cocaine annually, using long-haul semitrucks to transport drugs between Colombia, Mexico, Southern California, and Canada.

In connection with the witness killing, ten other defendants have been arrested. The U.S. government is offering rewards of up to $2 million for information leading to the arrest of others involved in the homicide.

Despite the global dragnet, Wedding remains at large. Authorities believe he is living in Mexico under the protection of the Sinaloa cartel, which they say he works with closely to funnel massive quantities of drugs into Canada and the U.S. A reward of up to $15 million is being offered for information that leads to his capture.

Wedding, who operates under aliases including “El Jefe,” “Public Enemy,” and “James Conrad King,” continues to be one of the most sought-after fugitives in the world.
