Driveway Shooting in Newmarket Linked to Prior Targeted Attack

Second Strike on Same Residence Within One Week

A residence on Hewitt Circle in Newmarket was struck by gunfire for the second time in one week, leaving one man seriously injured. York Regional Police believe the incident was targeted, with a suspect firing multiple rounds before fleeing in a waiting SUV.

Incident Details

Date: Thursday, October 23, 2025 — approximately 4:40 a.m.

Location: Hewitt Circle, near Bathurst Street & Mulock Drive, Newmarket, Ontario.

  • Shooting: Police responded to reports of gunfire at the residence early Thursday morning.

Connection to Previous Attack

The same residence was targeted on Thursday, October 16, 2025 — one week earlier — when gunfire damaged two vehicles, the garage, and the home’s front entry. No injuries occurred in the first incident.

The repetition and precision of these attacks strongly suggest targeted intimidation or retaliation rather than random gun violence.

York Regional Police are requesting witnesses and any available surveillance — including home security, dashcam, and neighborhood CCTV — to assist in identifying the suspect and vehicle.
