Two Men in All Black Got Out of a White Honda Civic, Walked Up the Driveway and Fired Into the House: York Regional Police Put the Markham Shooting on Social Media at Twelve Minutes Past Two and Have Published No Release At All (September 19, 2026)

MARKHAM — At twelve minutes past two on Saturday morning, two men in all black got out of a white Honda Civic near Warden Avenue and Highway 7, walked up a driveway and fired multiple rounds into the house at the end of it. Nobody was hit. Four hours later a reporter had the story. York Regional Police still have not issued a media release, and everything the public knows about this shooting comes from a post the force typed out on social media while officers were still standing in the street.

What the Force Actually Wrote

The York Regional Police account published the incident in the clipped bullet form the service uses for live events. It gives the time as 0212 am, the location as the Warden Ave/highway 7 area, Markham, and the account as: 2 males wearing all black came from a white Honda Civic and walked up the driveway firing multiple rounds at the residence. It adds that no injuries were reported and that the public should expect a large police presence in the area.

That is the entire official record of this shooting. CP24 reported it at 6:12 a.m. EDT and CTV News Toronto carried it the same morning, both drawing on the same post and on what officers said at the scene. The force gave a tip line — 905-895-1221 extension 7500 — and nothing else.

The Detail That Is Doing the Work

Strip the post down and one phrase carries almost all of the meaning: walked up the driveway. This was not a drive-by. The Civic stopped, two men got out of it, crossed private property on foot toward a specific front door, discharged a firearm multiple times into that specific house, and left. Whoever did this knew which house they wanted and was prepared to stand in front of it.

York Regional Police do not say that. The force does not use the word targeted, does not say whether anyone was home, does not say whether the rounds entered the structure, and does not say whether the residence has come to police attention before. Those are all questions a media release would normally answer. There is no media release.

A Second Markham Front-Door Shooting in Six Weeks

This site reported on September 9 that the same force released three photographs of a man who attended the rear of a residence near Major Mackenzie Drive East and Angus Glen Boulevard at 6:20 a.m. on August 15, discharged a firearm toward the property, and fled on an e-scooter across a golf course. That file sits with the YRP Firearms Investigations Team under occurrence 26-281245 and remains unsolved.

The two incidents are roughly nine kilometres and five weeks apart, and York Regional Police have drawn no connection between them, publicly or otherwise. None is asserted here. They are noted together only because they are both shootings at Markham houses in which the shooter approached the building on foot and nobody was hurt — and because the second one, so far, has produced less public information than the first.

What Is Still Not Reported

No occurrence number. No media release on the York Regional Police newsroom as of filing. No street. No house number. No count of rounds fired. No recovery of casings or of the firearm. No suspect description beyond the colour of the clothing. No plate or year for the Honda Civic, and no statement of whether it has been found.
