The Only Release Toronto Police Have Issued on This File Went Out Two Hours and Twenty-Five Minutes After the Bail Hearing It Announces: Raghav Sharma, 27, of Caledon Dies Four Days After a Car-to-Car Shooting and Tahir Mian, 23, Walks In (September 20, 2026)

TORONTO — A man was shot from one moving vehicle into another at twenty-two minutes past four on a Sunday morning. He died four days later. The man now charged with killing him walked into a police station of his own accord on the Saturday. And the Toronto Police Service said not one public word about any of it until 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, September 20 — by which point the bail appearance the release announces was already scheduled to have started.

What the Release Says Happened

The account is short and the force has not expanded on it. On Sunday, September 13, 2026, at approximately 4:22 a.m., officers were called to a shooting in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Underhill Drive, in the Parkwoods–Donalda stretch of North York. The Homicide and Missing Persons Unit reports that the victim and the suspect were in separate vehicles, that the suspect discharged a firearm at the victim, and that the victim was struck by the firearm discharge.

Life-saving measures were performed on scene. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Thursday, September 17, 2026, he succumbed to them. He has been identified as Raghav Sharma, 27, of Caledon.

Two days after Sharma died, on Saturday, September 19, Tahir Mian, 23, of Stouffville, turned himself in to police. He was arrested and charged with a single count of second-degree murder. The release lists his court appearance at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 106. The charge has not been tested in court.

Seven Days of Nothing, Then a Notice That Arrives Late

Release 66940 is the whole of the public record. This site read the Toronto Police news release index directly on the morning of September 20 and again after the release appeared; there is no earlier item under case 2026-1926048, no shooting release from September 13, no appeal for witnesses, and no notice that a man had died on September 17. The shooting, the death and the surrender all happened before the force said anything.

The timing of the notice is worth stating plainly, because it is arithmetic rather than opinion. The release lists a 9:30 a.m. court appearance on September 20. The release itself is stamped 11:55 a.m. on September 20. Whatever happened in room 106 that morning happened two hours and twenty-five minutes before the public was told it was scheduled.

None of that is unlawful and the force is under no obligation to announce a homicide the day it occurs. It is recorded here because this site’s job is the public record, and on this file the public record began a week late and arrived after the first court date had already passed.

The Clock Does Not Quite Match

Three versions of the call time now exist. The Toronto Police release says approximately 4:22 a.m. CP24, publishing at 12:36 p.m. on September 20 under Jermaine Wilson’s byline, wrote “about 4 a.m.” The CBC account, carried the same afternoon, put it at “shortly before 4:30 a.m.”

The three are compatible — two are roundings of the third — and this site takes the release’s 4:22 a.m. as the figure of record, since it is the only one sourced to the document rather than to a paraphrase of it. The divergence is noted because both outlets were working from the same release and neither reproduced the minute it contains.

The outlets also split on the accused. CP24 named Tahir Mian. The CBC version, written from the same release, did not name him at all. The name is on the Toronto Police release, and that is where this briefing takes it from.

What Has Not Been Said

No motive. No statement that Sharma and Mian knew one another, and no description of any relationship between them. No account of why two vehicles were in that place at that hour. No description of either vehicle — not a make, not a colour, not which one the shots came from. No weapon type, no calibre, no statement of how many rounds were fired or how many struck. No exact address, only the intersection area. No mention of whether either vehicle was recovered.

The release does not say what brought officers to the scene — a 911 call, a ShotSpotter alert, a passer-by — nor whether Sharma was found in the vehicle or outside it. It does not say who performed the life-saving measures or which hospital he was taken to. It does not say whether Mian was represented when he surrendered, nor which station he walked into.

And it does not name an organization. No gang, criminal organization or outlaw motorcycle club has been named by the Toronto Police Service in connection with this file, by the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit or by anyone else, and none is named here. No profile page on this site is linked, because police have attached no such body to this shooting. A car-to-car shooting at four in the morning invites a label; the force has not supplied one and this site does not manufacture them.
