The Winnipeg Police Service says its Central Division Community Support Unit identified a suspect after community complaints about suspected drug trafficking, and that on Monday, October 19, 2026 officers executed a search warrant at a multi-suite residence in the 300 block of Beverley Street, in the Daniel McIntyre neighbourhood, and arrested him without incident. The force says officers seized $1,600 in Canadian currency from his person, and from the residence a loaded CZP10 9mm handgun with a prohibited 14-round magazine, 11 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition, 650 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of psilocybin, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency, approximately $10,000 to $12,000 in loonies and toonies, large quantities of packaging materials and digital scales. David Turay, 40, is charged with eleven counts by a tally of the listed charges and was detained in custody. Two other adults arrested at the time of the search warrant execution were released without charges. The force published the account on October 21 under R26-60204.

The Charges

The release lists the counts against Turay as “Six firearm-related offences,” “Possession of a Weapon,” “Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine,” “Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine,” “Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin” and “Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.”

Six, plus one, plus three, plus one makes eleven counts by a tally of the listed charges. The release states no total, and it groups the six firearm counts under that single label rather than itemising them.

The Seizure

The release separates what officers took from Turay’s person — $1,600 in Canadian currency — from what it says was seized at the residence. The residence list runs: a loaded CZP10 9mm handgun with a prohibited 14-round magazine; 11 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition; 650 grams of methamphetamine; 50 grams of cocaine; 18 grams of psilocybin; approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency; approximately $10,000 to $12,000 in loonies and toonies; large quantities of packaging materials; and digital scales.

The release does not give a street value for any of the drugs, and it does not say which part of the multi-suite residence produced any particular item.

How the File Opened

The force says the warrant followed community complaints about suspected drug trafficking at the address, and that the Central Division Community Support Unit identified the suspect. It says the unit was assisted by the Tactical Support Team, the Rapid Response Unit, the Drone Unit and the Canine Unit.

What the Release Does Not Say

  • The six firearm counts: The release groups them as “Six firearm-related offences” and does not set out the individual charge wording.
  • The two others: The release says two other adults arrested at the time of the search warrant execution were released without charges, and does not identify them or say why.
  • The court date: The release says Turay was detained in custody and gives no court appearance date.
