The Winnipeg Police Service says a drug trafficking investigation has resulted in the arrest of two women, and that its Central Division Community Support Unit executed a search warrant on October 21 at a residence in the 200 block of King Edward Street, in the city’s downtown area. The force says that at about 7:00 p.m. investigators located the suspects in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue and took them into custody without incident, and that the search warrant at the King Edward Street address was conducted shortly afterward. The force says a search of the suspects produced 70 grams of methamphetamine, 3 grams of fentanyl, a vial of GHB, two cellular phones and $355 in Canadian currency, and that the search of the residence produced a 12-gauge shotgun with an obliterated serial number, four shotgun shells of ammunition, an Excalibur crossbow, 21 grams of psilocybin and digital scales. A 36-year-old woman and a 43-year-old woman face what the release calls numerous firearms, weapons, drug trafficking and proceeds of crime-related charges; both were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Neither woman is named in the release.

The Warrant and the Arrests

The release says officers identified two suspects and an associated residence believed to be connected to illicit activity, and that investigators then obtained a warrant. It says the Central Division Community Support Unit executed the search warrant on October 21 and that the suspects were taken into custody without incident in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue, not at the residence.

The release lists the items seized from the suspects separately from those seized at the residence. It does not say which of the two women the items taken from the suspects were found on, and it does not say which woman faces which charges.
