Shammar Osbourne, 22, of Wasaga Beach was one of four people Peel Regional Police charged on June 26, 2026 over the shooting death of Bryan Lara-Alvarez, 29, of Mississauga, and the count against him is First-Degree Murder. CP24 reported on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 5:36 p.m. Eastern that Osbourne stood in the prisoner’s box in a Collingwood courtroom that afternoon on drug possession and trafficking charges from a separate May 10, 2026 arrest in Springwater Township, and that his lawyer failed to appear to address the matter. The outlet says he is accused of trafficking opioids and cocaine. The account does not publish the specific counts on the drug matter, does not give dates for the virtual appearances in Barrie and Brampton it says are coming next week, and names no criminal organization, street gang or outlaw motorcycle club.

The Mississauga Homicide

According to the Peel Regional Police release of Friday, June 26, 2026, Bryan Lara-Alvarez, 29, of Mississauga was shot on Monday, March 20, 2023 at about 7:30 p.m. in the area of Dream Crest Road and Alicante Street, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The release credits the force’s Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau with the investigation and says investigators executed search and arrest warrants, which led to the seizure of a firearm and the arrest of four people. It carries the occurrence number PR230091429.

Chief Nishan Duraiappah of the Peel Regional Police is quoted in that release saying: “These arrests mark a resolution in a case that deeply impacted our community.” Neither the release nor the CP24 account describes the firearm, says where it was seized, or ties it to any individual accused or count.

Charges, as the Peel Release Words Them

  • Shamba Tull, 22, of Toronto: First-Degree Murder
  • Shammar Osbourne, 22, of Wasaga Beach: First-Degree Murder
  • Talena Farquharson-Miller, 23, of Toronto: Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm; Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm; Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Ahmed Hassan, 23, of Toronto: the same three counts as Farquharson-Miller
  • Total: one count each for Tull and Osbourne and three each for Farquharson-Miller and Hassan, eight counts in all. The release says all four remained in custody pending bail hearings.

The Separate Drug Matter

CP24 reports that Osbourne was arrested on May 10, 2026 by provincial police in Springwater Township after a single-vehicle crash on Luella Boulevard in Anten Mills at about 11:30 p.m., that officers reportedly found suspected opioids and cocaine, and that both accused were arrested on scene. The outlet says a 24-year-old man from Ajax was charged with drug counts after that arrest; it does not say whether he is also a co-accused in the homicide. CP24 words the charges against Osbourne on this file as drug possession and trafficking charges and says he is accused of trafficking opioids and cocaine; it does not list the counts.

The outlet says the homicide charges were announced in late June, a month after the May 10 arrest, and does not give a date for the laying of the murder charge itself. No officer or spokesperson is named or quoted in the October 6 account; it attributes information to Peel Regional police, to provincial police in Springwater Township, and to investigators.
