Cross Lake RCMP say Nakeem Jamar Johnson, 36, from Brampton, Ontario, who was wanted on a Canada-Wide-Warrant in connection with an attempted murder investigation, is now also facing four charges in Manitoba: identity fraud, resist/obstruct peace officer, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The Manitoba RCMP release, dated October 6, 2026, says that on September 21, after an initial investigation involving drug trafficking in Pimicikamak Cree Nation, Cross Lake RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on North Saggitawak, where police located crack cocaine, a large amount of Canadian currency and various drug paraphernalia, and that four individuals inside were arrested without incident. The release says Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services investigators then transported Johnson to Brampton, where he is being held for a bail hearing. This follows this site’s October 1 briefing on the seventeen counts Peel Regional Police announced against a man of the same name, age and hometown.

The Manitoba Search Warrant

The release says Cross Lake RCMP executed the search warrant on September 21 and that four individuals were inside the home at the time and were all arrested without incident. It says one of the males arrested was Johnson, and that he is now also facing the four Manitoba charges. Three other people, a 22-year-old male from Cross Lake, a 34-year-old male from Fairford and a 35-year-old female from Cross Lake, were also arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and were released on a release order. Cross Lake RCMP continue to investigate, the release says.

The release dates the search warrant September 21 and gives no separate date for the arrests. Peel Regional Police’s October 1 release says Johnson was arrested on September 22 in Cross Lake with RCMP assistance. The two accounts differ on the date, and this briefing chooses neither. The Manitoba release gives no weight for the crack cocaine and no dollar figure for the currency, which it calls “a large amount.” It links to Peel Regional Police’s release for more details on the incident. CP24 reported Peel’s release on October 1.

Why This Sits on the Beat

Cross Lake is outside the primary footprint of this beat. The concrete qualifier is the file this release continues: Peel Regional Police’s October 1 release, which this site published, charges Johnson with seventeen counts, the first two of them attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, in an investigation that began with a shooting in the area of Queen Street East and Rutherford Road in Brampton, inside the Greater Toronto Area. The Manitoba release adds four charges against the same man and the circumstances in which he was found. It does not name the Peel force in its text, but it links to Peel’s release, and the name, age and hometown match. The Manitoba drug seizure on its own, crack cocaine and currency with no figure given, from a detachment search, would not be offered as a qualifier.

Charges and What the Release Says

  • Manitoba charges against Johnson, as the release words them: identity fraud; resist/obstruct peace officer; possession for the purpose of trafficking; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
  • Warrant: the release says Johnson “was wanted on a Canada-Wide-Warrant in connection with an attempted murder investigation.” It does not describe the investigation; it links to Peel Regional Police’s release.
