50Days from the second seizure to the announcement

Peel Regional Police published on Friday, October 2, 2026 that investigators attended the residence of one of the accused from an August 10, 2026 traffic stop in Brampton and located two more firearms there on August 13 — a 9 mm handgun and a sawed-off rifle, along with several rounds of ammunition. Navjot Singh, 29, of Innisfail, Alberta has been further charged with seven counts, and the force says he now faces a total of 14 charges related to the investigation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice. The release does not say which of the accused lived at the residence, does not give the address, does not say on what date any of the charges was laid, and does not name any criminal organization. Singh is presumed innocent and none of the 14 counts has been tested in court.

What Is New

This site reported the August 10 traffic stop on August 22, 2026, when Peel Regional Police announced that 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau officers had seized a loaded illegal handgun in a vehicle near Cedarbrook Road and Edgewater Court in Brampton, which the force called its 112th illegal firearm of 2026, and that three men had each been charged with five firearm counts, including Tampering with Serial Number of Firearm, with Navjot Singh facing two additional counts. The October 2 release adds a second seizure that was not in that announcement.

According to the October 2 release, on August 13, 2026 at approximately 10:30 p.m., investigators attended the residence of one of the accused from the original incident and located a 9 mm handgun, a sawed-off rifle and several rounds of ammunition. That brings the number of firearms seized in the investigation to three: the loaded handgun from the vehicle on August 10, and the handgun and sawed-off rifle from the residence three days later.

Fifty days separate the August 13 seizure from the October 2 publication. The force’s August 22 announcement of the traffic stop, issued nine days after that second seizure, does not mention it.

The Charges

The seven further counts the force publishes against Navjot Singh are, in its wording: Careless Storage of Firearm; Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (two counts); Careless Storage of Ammunition; Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition (two counts); and Failure to Comply with Undertaking. The release does not describe the undertaking, say when it was imposed or say what it required. The August 22 release had already listed a count of Fail to Comply with Undertaking against him.

The release does not state where in the residence either gun was found, does not say which count relates to which firearm, and does not describe either firearm by make, model or loaded status. It does not mention a search warrant for the August 13 attendance. No count published against Singh is a criminal organization offence.

The release names no accused other than Singh. The two men charged alongside him in August — named in the August 22 release as Harkomal Singh, 29, of Brampton and Mohobbatbir Randhawa, 23, of Brampton — do not appear in the October 2 release, and it does not say whether either faces any charge arising from the August 13 seizure.

What the record does not contain

  • The address: no street, block or municipality is given for the residence.
  • Legal authority: no search warrant is mentioned for the August 13 attendance.
  • Dates of charge: the release does not state when the original counts or the seven further counts were laid.
  • Firearm descriptions: neither the 9 mm handgun nor the sawed-off rifle is described by make, model or loaded status, and no serial-number status is published for either.
  • The undertaking: not described, dated or explained.
  • Co-accused: no charge arising from the second seizure is published against anyone other than Singh.
  • Court date: none published; the outcome of the bail hearing is not stated.
