Two Sixteen-Punch Tablet Presses on an Island You Cannot Drive To: The Sûreté du Québec Releases the Count From Its Methamphetamine Lab Takedown — 402,600 Tablets, 110 Kilos of Powder, and Four Men Released Pending Proceedings (Reported August 21, 2026)
The dates first, because they matter. The operation ran on August 14. The Sûreté du Québec put out the full tally on Thursday, August 20, and it was reported that evening and the following morning. Nothing here happened today. What did happen, a week and a half ago, was that provincial investigators walked into a working methamphetamine factory and came out with more than four hundred thousand pills and the machines that stamp them.
The unit is the Escouade nationale de répression du crime organisé — the SQ’s national organized crime suppression squad — working with officers from several other provincial services. The dismantling itself was handled by the force’s multidisciplinary dismantling team, the specialists who go into buildings full of solvents and precursor chemicals.
Two Addresses, One Factory
Two residences were searched. The first is on Rang St-André in Saint-Philippe, in the Montérégie. The second is on chemin de la Chapelle on Île Bouchard, at Saint-Sulpice in Lanaudière — an island in the Verchères archipelago in the St. Lawrence that is not reachable by car.
One of the two sites was an active production operation. Police have not publicly specified which, and the choice of an island with no road access is the detail that says most about how this was set up: a production site that cannot be casually driven past, approached, or raided without a boat.

What a Sixteen-Punch Press Means
The drugs are the headline. The hardware is the finding.
A single tablet press is a cottage operation. Two sixteen-punch presses with more than two hundred spare punches held in reserve is a production line configured to keep running — punches wear out, and stockpiling them is what you do when you are planning volume over time rather than a batch.
The 1,200 kilograms of cutting agents point the same way. That figure is roughly ten times the weight of the methamphetamine powder recovered alongside it. Cutting agent in that quantity is bought to be mixed into product that has not been made yet.
Four Men, and Nobody Held
Four men, ranging in age from 20 to 50, were arrested. All four were released pending proceedings. The SQ has not released their names, and no charges had been confirmed as authorised at the time the tally went out.
The offences flagged as potential are production of methamphetamine and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
No criminal organization has been named. That is worth stating precisely: ENRCO’s standing mandate is the leadership tier of organized crime in Quebec, which includes the province’s outlaw motorcycle structures and the drug networks around the Hells Angels. That is what the squad exists to do. It is not a statement about who ran this lab, and the Sûreté du Québec has made no such statement.
From the Raid to the Tally

Date, stated plainly. The searches were executed on Friday, August 14, 2026. The tally was released by the Sûreté du Québec on Thursday, August 20, and reported August 20 and 21. This file carries no development later than August 21.
What is verified. The operation date; the unit; the two search addresses and their municipalities; that one of the two was an active methamphetamine production site; that Île Bouchard is not accessible by car; the full seizure list including the tablet counts, the powder and crystal weights, the cutting agents, the hashish, the firearms, the conducted-energy weapon and the cash figure; that four men aged 20 to 50 were arrested and released pending proceedings; and that the potential offences are production of methamphetamine and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
What is missing. Which of the two addresses held the production line. The names and municipalities of the four accused. Whether the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales has since authorised charges, and on what counts. The street value assigned to the seizure. Whether the seven hunting firearms were lawfully held. Where the finished product was going. How long the operation had been running before August 14.
What is not claimed. That any named criminal organization operated this laboratory. None has been identified by police, and this file does not supply one.
When this will be updated. On the authorisation of charges, the release of the accused’s names, any further arrests, or any police statement attributing the operation to a network.
