OTTAWA — An investigative intelligence referral generated by the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has triggered an international tactical raid dismantling a cyber-exploitation ring operating across Southeast Asia.

The operational file, unsealed on Sunday, August 2, 2026, details a joint multi-agency probe linking Ottawa digital forensics analysts, the RCMP Transnational Child Sex Offender Unit, and the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Human Trafficking Division. The operation secured eight victims—including five young children—and led to the arrest of an overseas target.

Cybertip Tracking Triggers Transnational Strike

The investigation launched when OPS ICE analysts received automated Cybertip.ca intelligence pinpointing illegal digital material uploading to encrypted network servers. Ottawa detectives unsealed digital footprints connecting local IP logs to remote server nodes operating in the Philippines.

Ottawa Police analysts forwarded the digital evidence packet to the RCMP National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC). Federal intelligence handlers then mobilized Philippine tactical units, executing simultaneous entry warrants to seize hardware arrays and rescue trapped victims.
