The Chatham-Kent Police Service says a 53-year-old Chatham man has been charged with seven offences, among them possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. Police say the seizures from a joint investigation with the Collingwood OPP Community Street Crime Unit include about 960 grams of cocaine and about 645 grams of MDMA, with an estimated street value of about $134,700, along with about $23,000 in Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime, a prohibited conducted energy weapon (Taser), a replica .177 calibre handgun, multiple rounds of ammunition, digital scales and drug packaging materials. Police allege the man was receiving and distributing controlled substances supplied through a broader trafficking network, and say a search warrant was executed at a residence on Evening Drive in Chatham on November 1.

The Seven Charges

The Chatham-Kent Police Service lists the charges as “Drive While Under Suspension,” “Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking,” “Possession of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) for the Purpose of Trafficking,” “Possession Contrary to an Order – Ammunition,” “Possession Contrary to an Order – Conducted Energy Weapon,” “Possession of a Prohibited Weapon” and “Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000.”

How the Investigation Unfolded

Police say that beginning in September 2026, investigators from the Chatham-Kent Police Service worked alongside members of the Collingwood OPP Community Street Crime Unit in an investigation targeting individuals believed to be involved in the distribution of illegal drugs across Ontario. Police say intelligence gathered during the investigation identified a 53-year-old Chatham man who was allegedly receiving and distributing controlled substances supplied through the broader trafficking network.

On November 1, 2026, police services executed multiple search warrants at locations throughout the province, the service says. As part of that coordinated enforcement action, Chatham-Kent Police Service Emergency Response Team members simultaneously executed a search warrant at a residence on Evening Drive in Chatham, and members of the Intelligence Unit arrested the man.

Police also secured the vehicle the man was operating at the time of his arrest, pending further judicial authorization and examination. The service says: “This investigation demonstrates the value of collaborative policing and intelligence-led enforcement.”
