York Regional Police Release Video and Ask the Public to Identify a Suspect the Firearms Investigations Team Believes Was Involved in Both an April 18 Incident in Which an Apparent Accelerant Was Poured at the Front Doors of a Vaughan Business and an April 22 Shooting and Fire at the Same Business Near Islington Avenue and Kellam Street (October 14, 2026)
York Regional Police published a release on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 asking the public to help identify a suspect in what the force headlines as an April arson and shooting at the same business in Vaughan. Investigators with the force’s Firearms Investigations Team say officers were called to a business near Islington Avenue and Kellam Street at 9:45 a.m. on April 18, 2026 after an employee reported smelling gasoline, and were called back to the same business at 5:40 a.m. on April 22, 2026 after reports of gunshots and a possible fire. The force says investigators believe both incidents involve the same suspect, and it has released video of each. Nobody has been arrested or charged, the release does not name the business, states no motive, and names no criminal organization, street gang or outlaw motorcycle club. The release publishes two case numbers, 26-131163 and 26-135550.
The April 18 Incident

Video from about 6:30 a.m. that day shows a lone suspect with a jerrycan pouring what appears to be an accelerant in front of the main doors, the force says. The suspect then threw large rocks at the windows and fled. The release says: “It is unknown if there was any attempt to ignite the accelerant.”
The April 22 Shooting and Fire
Four days later, at 5:40 a.m. on April 22, 2026, police were called to the same business about gunshots and a possible fire. The release says the business “sustained damage due to gunfire and the front glass door was smashed.” Video from about 5:30 a.m. shows a lone suspect carrying a jerrycan and a duffel bag, the force says; the suspect “discharges a firearm multiple times toward the front door” and then entered with the jerrycan. A small fire started in the vestibule as the suspect fled and burned out on its own. There were no injuries.
