Seven people from Kenora and two nearby First Nations are charged with twenty-one counts between them after a drug trafficking investigation in downtown Kenora, according to the account published on Friday, October 9, 2026 by NetNewsLedger. The account says the Kenora Community Street Crime Unit and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau began investigating in the summer of 2026, that two people were arrested on October 6 and a search warrant was then executed in Kenora, and that the remaining five were arrested on October 6 and October 7. Methamphetamine, hydromorphone, a replica firearm, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized. The account publishes no quantity or dollar value for anything seized, gives no custody or release status for any of the seven, and names no criminal organization, street gang or outlaw motorcycle club.

The Investigation and the Units Named

The account says the Kenora Community Street Crime Unit and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau “began investigating” drug trafficking in the downtown Kenora area during the summer of 2026. Three further units are described as providing assistance: the OPP Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau, the Treaty Three Police Service Street Crime Unit and the Kenora OPP Detachment. Those three assisted; the account does not say what any one of them did.

On October 6, the account says, two people were arrested, and a search warrant was then executed in Kenora. The remaining five accused were arrested on October 6 and October 7. The account does not say which of the seven were the two arrested first, does not give a time for any arrest, does not give the address searched, and does not say which arrests followed the search.

The Seven Accused and Their Counts

All seven are named and all are adults. The charge wording below is as the account words it. Every count is an allegation that has not been tested in court, and each of the seven is presumed innocent.

Seven of the twenty-one are counts of Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, five allege Trafficking in a Schedule I substance — hydromorphone and four allege Trafficking in a Schedule I substance — methamphetamine. The account says the seven are scheduled to appear at the Kenora Courthouse on later dates, but gives no date for any appearance, and it does not say whether any of the seven was released or held.

The Carrying a Concealed Weapon Count

One count, against Marc Derouin, is Carrying a concealed weapon. The only weapon in the published seizure list is a replica firearm. The account does not say which item that count relates to, does not describe the replica firearm beyond that phrase, and does not say where or on whom any weapon was found.

Every one of the twenty-one counts is an allegation. None has been tested in court and all seven accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Allegations are the OPP’s as reported by NetNewsLedger and CTV News Northern Ontario. The charge wording here is as those accounts word it, not in the force’s own wording. No gang, outlaw motorcycle club, crime family, syndicate or cartel label has been used, because no source used one. No publication ban is mentioned in either account.
