The Sûreté du Québec is Searching for a Nineteen-Year-Old Wanted in Connection With a Salaberry-de-Valleyfield Murder (September 22, 2026)
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has issued an arrest warrant and is asking for the public’s help to locate 19-year-old Ayoub Mohamed in connection with the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old barber in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. According to police sources cited by TVA Nouvelles, the suspects had allegedly accepted a $500 contract to kidnap and beat the young father, but the confrontation escalated when a shot was fired. Gagné managed to flee the shop and sought refuge inside a neighboring La Belle Province restaurant while patrons were eating dinner. The shooter reportedly fired a second shot through the restaurant’s glass door, which missed, before fleeing the area. Gagné died from his injuries a few hours later at the hospital.
An alleged accomplice already in custody
Mohamed is the second teenager identified by police in connection with the file. An 18-year-old, Félix Lepage, was arrested shortly after the shooting and arraigned two weeks ago on a charge of accessory after the fact. Police sources allege Lepage acted as the getaway driver during the murder.
The suspect
The Sûreté du Québec describes Mohamed as standing five feet ten inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, with brown eyes and a thin mustache. The release notes he previously had brown hair but may have altered his appearance by shaving his head since the shooting. Police say he is known to wear a blue bandana to conceal his face while moving around on foot.
