Drug Trafficking — Gaspésie

Two Point Three Kilograms of Cocaine and Thirteen Thousand Methamphetamine Tablets Came Out of One Address on Rue Mgr de Laval, and the Only Person Arrested Was Released the Same Day: the Sûreté du Québec Has Published Nothing at All on Chandler (Originally Reported September 11, 2026)

CHANDLER, Que. — A dwelling and a vehicle on rue Mgr de Laval were searched on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and what came out of them was more than two and a third kilograms of cocaine and roughly thirteen thousand methamphetamine tablets. One person was arrested: a woman of 54. She was released the same day. No charge has been laid against her or anyone else, and the Sûreté du Québec has not published a word about any of it.

The file reached the public on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10:56, through Ma Gaspésie and the reporter Christophe Moquin. It is, at time of filing, the only account of this operation in existence. This briefing is written from it.

The Inventory — Rue Mgr de Laval, September 10, 2026

  • More than 2.3 kilograms of cocaine
  • Approximately 13,000 methamphetamine tablets
  • More than $4,800 in cash
  • One vehicle, seized as a bien infractionnel — offence-related property
  • Places searched: one dwelling and one vehicle, both on rue Mgr de Laval, Chandler
  • Units: the Chandler major crimes investigation team, assisted by officers of the MRC du Rocher-Percé post
  • Origin: information supplied by members of the public

Two Kilograms Is Not a Gaspé Peninsula Quantity

Chandler is a town of a few thousand people on the southern shore of the Gaspé peninsula, about as far from Montreal as it is possible to get and remain in Quebec. Two point three kilograms of cocaine is not an amount that a local market of that size consumes, and thirteen thousand methamphetamine tablets is a pill count that has to be manufactured somewhere and moved somewhere.

That is the whole significance of this file and the reason it belongs on this beat rather than in a regional crime column. Quantities at this level are not a possession matter. They are a distribution matter, and distribution at the eastern end of Quebec means a supply line running east along Highway 132 from somewhere considerably larger. Who runs it is not stated anywhere in the reporting, and no such claim is made here.

The vehicle seizure reinforces the point without naming anyone. Taking a car as bien infractionnel is a step police take when they intend to argue the vehicle was an instrument of the offence rather than incidental property. It signals an allegation of transport.

Arrested, Released, and Not Charged

The woman is 54. She was arrested during the operation and released the same day, and the reporting says she must return before the courts and could face drug-related charges. That construction — pourrait faire face à des accusations — is the Quebec formula for a file where police have made an arrest but the Crown has not yet authorised a charge.

It is worth stating what that does and does not mean. No charge exists at this hour. She has not been named, and this briefing does not name her. The release-the-same-day outcome, attached to a seizure of this size, is the single most conspicuous thing about the file: two and a third kilograms of cocaine came out of an address and nobody is in custody over it.

There is no indication in the reporting that anyone else was arrested, and no statement that police are looking for anyone else.

No Communiqué, and the Newsroom Proves It

The Sûreté du Québec newsroom was checked directly for this briefing. Its most recent postings are the 58th Festival Western de Saint-Tite on September 10, an armed-violence operation at Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier on September 9, and a narcotics operation in downtown Joliette on September 9, and then nothing until late August. There is no entry for Chandler, none for rue Mgr de Laval and none for the MRC du Rocher-Percé.

So the force that did the work has published no account of it. That is common enough on this beat for regional posts and is not in itself remarkable, but it does mean every figure above rests on a single news outlet rather than on a charge sheet. Should the Sûreté du Québec post a communiqué later, the quantities, the units and the arrest details in it will need to be read against what is written here.

What Is Not Reported

No name for the accused, and no hometown beyond the implication of the address. No civic address on rue Mgr de Laval, and no statement of whether the dwelling was hers. No time of day for the search. No warrant details. No make, model or year for the seized vehicle. No purity, packaging or street value for the cocaine. No description of the methamphetamine tablets, no stamp or logo, no weight for the 13,000-tablet count. No firearm, and none is mentioned. No file, occurrence or warrant number. No officer quoted — not a sergeant, not a spokesperson, nobody. No court date, only that she must return. No statement of how long the investigation ran before September 10, beyond the fact that it began with public tips.

No gang, club, syndicate or criminal organization is named in the reporting, and none is named here. A two-kilogram cocaine seizure in a small coastal town is the kind of file that ordinarily sits at the end of a supply chain belonging to somebody, but neither the Sûreté du Québec nor Ma Gaspésie says whose, and this briefing does not guess.

No charge has been laid. Nothing described above has been tested in court, and the woman arrested is presumed innocent of any offence that may later be alleged.

Provides the September 10 date of the operation, the dwelling and vehicle searched on rue Mgr de Laval, the Chandler major crimes investigation team and the MRC du Rocher-Percé post, the full seizure inventory, the arrest and same-day release of a 54-year-old woman, the absence of charges, and the public-tip origin of the operation.
  • No police release exists for this file. The Sûreté du Québec newsroom was checked directly on September 11, 2026. Its most recent items are the 58e Festival Western de Saint-Tite (September 10), an armed-violence operation at Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier (September 9) and a narcotics operation in downtown Joliette (September 9), then nothing until late August. Nothing appears for Chandler, rue Mgr de Laval or the MRC du Rocher-Percé. The force’s newsroom will be re-checked on a later run so that any communiqué can be folded in.
  • The observation that quantities of this size indicate distribution rather than personal possession, and that a seizure at the eastern end of the Gaspé peninsula implies a supply line from elsewhere, is this briefing’s analysis. Neither the Sûreté du Québec nor Ma Gaspésie makes any statement about supply, distribution networks or the origin of the drugs, and no such statement is attributed to either.
  • No file, occurrence or warrant number was published. No officer or spokesperson is quoted. No name, purity, packaging, street value or tablet weight is published. No court date is published.
  • No gang, street group, criminal organization or motorcycle club is named by any source in this file. None is named or inferred in this briefing, and no profile page on this site is linked from it, because no organization covered by one has been named in connection with this file.
  • No charge has been laid. The woman arrested is presumed innocent and is not named here. All of the above remains untested in court.
