Two Replica Firearms, Four Drugs and Not One Weight in the Whole File: the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP Charge Gwendolyn Northrup, 32, James Dawley, 39, and Mark Daniel, 58, Eight Days After a 5:30 a.m. Warrant on Stanley Street in Simcoe (Reported September 9–10, 2026)

SIMCOE, ONTARIO — Three people were taken out of a residence on Stanley Street before six in the morning on the first day of September, and eight days passed before anybody outside the Ontario Provincial Police knew it had happened. What the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP Community Street Crime Unit has put on the record names four different controlled substances, two replica firearms and a third weapon it does not describe. What it does not contain is a single number: no gram weight, no dollar value, no count of the currency seized, no occurrence number. The charge sheet is the only quantity in this file.

The warrant was executed shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at a property on Stanley Street in Simcoe, the town at the centre of Norfolk County on the north shore of Lake Erie. Officers entered a residence on the property and arrested three people without incident.

What Came Out of the House

The seizure list is unusually broad for a single address and unusually vague for a trafficking file. Four substances are named and none is weighed. Two of the three weapons are explicitly replicas. The third is called only “a weapon.”

No firearm was reported recovered. The two items the OPP calls replicas account for the two imitation-weapon counts against one of the three accused, and the unspecified “weapon” accounts for the unauthorized-possession and dangerous-purpose counts. Nothing published indicates anybody in this file was under a firearms prohibition.

The Three Charge Sheets, and Which Two Are Incomplete

This matters for how the file should be read. The account of the charges against Gwendolyn Northrup and James Dawley is expressly prefaced with the word “including,” which means neither list can be taken as complete. Only the third is written as a closed set.

All three are listed as being of Norfolk County rather than of Simcoe or any other specific municipality. The proceeds-of-crime counts split on the $5,000 line: over for Northrup and Dawley, under for Daniel. No release explains what property that threshold refers to, and the currency seized is never quantified, so the distinction cannot be reconciled against anything public.

No Release the Public Can Read

This file has no retrievable police release attached to it, and that should be stated plainly rather than papered over. The Ontario Provincial Police newsroom renders its release list in JavaScript and returns nothing to a direct read; it publishes no feed, and its site search returns nothing for this file. Every route to a primary OPP document came back empty.

What exists publicly is a two-stage trail. On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, the OPP West Region account posted a photograph from the Stanley Street search and named the Community Street Crime Unit. CHCH picked that post up at 4:54 p.m. and said outright that investigators “did not provide further information regarding the arrest, the people charged or when the search occurred.” By 6:16 the next morning a full account carried the September 1 date, the 5:30 a.m. time, three names, three ages and itemized charges — detail that can only have come from a written OPP release issued in the intervening hours. That release could not be located. The names, dates and charges in this briefing therefore rest on the written account of it rather than on a document this publication has read.

What Is Not in This File

No criminal organization has been named by the Ontario Provincial Police or by anyone reporting on the file. Nothing frames these arrests as organized crime. No officer is quoted, by name or by rank. No occurrence number has been published. No street value has been estimated. No vehicle is mentioned. Nothing indicates whether the three accused are connected to one another beyond having been in the same residence when the door went.

None of these allegations has been tested in court, and none of the three accused has entered a plea.
